Belarus upset the favourites in Ostrava

European reigning champions, led by Bernadette SZOCS will have little more time to sleep tomorrow morning. They secured place among top 16 teams at the Junior Girls Teams Event at the 56th European  Youth Championships in Ostrava. Romania emerged at the top of the Group A. SZOCS, Irina CIOBANU, Bernadett BALINT, Bianka CRISAN succeeded against Serbia, Sweden and Netherlands. Serbia finished second.

In Group B Germany had safe run toward the top. Nina MITTELHAM, Theresa KRAFT, Chantal MANTZ and WAN Yuan beat Croatia, Czech Republic and Greece. Against Croatia, they played very interesting match and Nina MITTELHAM was the backbone of the success.

“It was not an easy match. Against Mateja JEGER I faced few difficulties. KRAFT lost her encounter against Lea RAKOVEC, but I was confident that I can beat her. I defeated her last time and for Lea is much harder to play against me,” explained MITTELHAM.

WAN Yuan played for a first time for juniors an she get her chance against Greece. She seized the opportunity and beat Konstantina PARIDI.

In Group C Belarus upset the favourites. Katsiaryna BARAVOK, Alina ARLOUSKAYA and Hanna PATESEYEVA overcame top seeds France on the way to the first position. After five matches thriller France fell to the second position. Turkey and Hungary finished third and fourth.

It was same situation in Group D. Poland’s Natalia BAJOR, Sandra WABIK and Agnieszka KACZMAREK eat Russia’s representatives and took over their position. Slovakia and Italy are third and fourth.
