Anastasia KOLISH made very significant progress at the European rankings this month. Only 12 years old cadet moved from spot no. 67 to eight in July. It secured her the place in the national team of Russia for the 56th European Youth Championships in Ostrava. In the opening match in the Group D, KOLISH overcame Portugal’s Marta SANTOS without losing the game. Russia stayed at the same course and eventually won the duel in straight matches against Portugal. Latter Russia beat Serbia to justify their position in the Group.

KOLISH already won European championships title in Singles in the mini cadet category last year, but it is her first appearance at the Youth Europeans.

“I was so worried. It is great honor for me to be the part of the team, but it is also great pressure. Very match here is important and I am enjoying playing,” said Anastasia who is coming from Sankt Petersburg. Anastasia’s  improvement at the list was made after great performance at the Polish Open in Wladislawowo. KOLISH beat Belgium’s Lauranne HACKEMACK and Margo DEGRAF as well as Isabele LUPULESKU of Serbia in Team’s Event.

KOLISH successfully concluded qualifications in Singles before she overcame few notable names in main draw. Before Anastasia reached quarterfinal she beat one of the seeds Yuko KATO of Japan and Europe’s no. 5 Andreea CLAPA.
