05/05/2010 – Under the guidance of Sweden’s Emanuel CHRISTIANSSON, the Greek capital city of Athens staged the course from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th April 2010. “Greece has recently decided to restructure their coach education system; the first level was conducted by Mrs Katy SPANOU last year”, explained Emanuel CHRISTIANSSON. “Thanks to assistance from ETTU and ITTF, they have now finalised four seminars for the second level and in May, a Level Three Course will be held in Marathon.”

“A total of 45 students attended the course in Athens, coming from throughout Greece”, explained Emanuel CHRISTIANSSON. “The atmosphere was very positive and the participants showed a lot of interest in the subjects
that were covered; it was clear that there was a lot of knowledge in the group and thus discussions were invaluable.”.

Certainly, when service techniques were being discussed, the interest level was very high.”Discussions focused on how different techniques can be varied and give more possibilities in the game with theoretical sessions about the basics of tactics being followed by practical sessions”, continued Emanuel CHRISTIANSSON. “The final subject to be covered was as to how coaches could work with individual players which led to discussions on
leadership roles.”
