14/06/2010 – After this season we could say that Borussia is the most successful European table tennis club, having in mind the nine European titles (three in ECL era) but also its clear that this club is one of the best in German sport.

Last week Borussia finished their winning journey through Europe and Germany, beating Ochsenhausen in final rematch of national championship – 3:1 (first match 3:2). That is Borussia`s 23rd title in German league and historical first triple crown, counting German cup reached in first days of this year. Only club who managed that before was Grenzau, 23 years ago. Borussia reached small “triple crown” in 1995, taking ETTU cup instead ECL.

Borussia`s success inspired many German media to compare this club with the best German club in all sport, Bayern Munich, one of the best clubs ever in European and world history. One of these articles you can see on Borussia`s website, thanks to Dr. Stephan ROSCHER (German table tennis federation), Holger TROMP (Bild), Joachim BREITBACH (der Western) and website www.express.de.

Both clubs, Borussia and Bayern, had very successful seasons, with six finals together and only one loss: Bayern from Inter Milan in football Champions League. Both sports institution now have 54 trophies each, but Dusseldorf has one more German league (23:22) and five European crowns more (9:4).

Asked can this triple is comparable with Bayern`s success, Christian SUSS (in football fan of Schalke) explains that his club “has small advantage” and his team mate Trinko KEEN answered: “Borussia is powerful, but we can compare with them”.

But, as Holger TROM said, Bayern has 150.000 members – Borussia 300, Bayern plays in front of 69.000 spectators in Allianz Arena – Borussia usually had support from 1.000 in Staufenplatz, Bayern best paid player Franck RIBERY earns 10 million euros – Borussia`s best one Timo BOLL 300.000.

Last game of the season, German final rematch:

Timo BOLL – Adrian CRISAN 3:1 (9:11, 11:6, 11:8, 11:4)

Christian SUSS – CHUANG Chih-Yuan 3:1 (11:8, 11:9, 6:11, 11:8)

Seiya KISHIKAWA – Tiago APOLONIA 2:3 (5:11, 7:11, 11:9, 11:9, 8:11)

Timo BOLL – CHUANG Chin-Yuan 3:2 (8:11, 11:5, 9:11, 11:6, 11:5)
