Apuania Carrara is the Italian Men's Team Champion for the fourth time

 

Apuania Carrara Tennistavolo has been crowned Italian Men's Team Champion for the fourth time in its history. They added this title to the trophies won in 2013, 2014 and 2017.

The team beat 4-1 Milan in the final at home soil, after the draw (3-3) in the first leg, concluding a fantastic year in which the team has also won the Italy Cup (played for a first time after 1979.

The creators of the victory were Russia’s Sadi ISMAILOV, the Italians Mihai BOBOCICA and Mattia CROTTI, Serbian Lorencio LUPULESKU and the coach Claudio VOLPI.

 

Mihai BOBOCICA gave his team a dream start with the victory over GUO Ze. Sadi ISMAILOV vs. Matteo MUTTI was hard fought, and Russian eventually prevailed 3-2. Mattia CROTTI suffered by the hands of Leonardo MUTTI, but ISMAILOV beat GUO for 3:1. In decisive match BOBOCICA recovered from 2:1 in reverse to overcome MUTTI.

 

“It has been a very close match” said President Alessandro MERCIADRI. “and we are really happy to won it.”

 

Coach Claudio VOLPI added: “I always had the maximum trust in every member of the team: Mihai, Sadi, Mattia and Lorencio. Everybody played their part at the right moment. Well done!!”
