Romania in a perfect run in Luxembourg

At the end of day one at the LIBEHERR ITTF European Championships Germany, Romania, Austria and Russia are still unbeaten in the Women’s Team’s Event. They succeeded in both Rounds played today in the Championships Division.

 

Germany secured second victory at the Championships by beating Hungary in straight matches. The same trio that beat Sweden was in action once again – HAN Ying, SHAN Xiaona and Nina MITTELHAM.

 

“We won our first two matches relatively easy, which is a good start to the competition. We play to win the next game. I don't know if I will play the next match, but in any case we are all capable to secure the victory,” said MITTELHAM.

 

LI Fen led Sweden to the victory over Croatia. She beat Mirela DURAK and Dorina SREBRNJAK. Before she struggled against LI, Dorina accounted against Matilda EKHOLM in full five games match.

 

Romania is also unbeaten at the top of the Group B. After Netherlands, Elizabeta SAMARA, Daniela MONTEIRO DODEAN and Bernadette SZOCS overcame team composed of  Reanata STRBIKOVA, Hana MATELOVA and Dana CECHOVA of Czech Republic. MATELOVA was only to score for Czech Repubublic.

 

“I really like to play against Czech Republic. They pulled out the best of us. I am very happy with my performance against Netherlands this morning. SAMARA is playing in fantastic shape, so let’s hope for the medal in team’s event,” said Daniela MONTEIRO DODEAN.

 

Luxembourg was close to another upset of the day, but LI Jie and Britt EERLAND denied their efforts. Britt gave Dutch team a good start against Sarah DE NUTTE , whilst LI prevailed against both, Sarah and NI Xia Lian.
