PLETEA and JARVIS search for vengeance

Europe Youth Top 10 in Worcester

The leading name in Boy’s Juniors Event at the forthcoming Europe Youth Top 10 in Worcester, England (from 8th to 10th September) is Cristian PLETEA of Romania.

Silver medalists from European Youth Championships, PLETEA will arrive in England after preparations he had in Germany.

“I made a break after Portugal. Had some rest for a week and then started to practice. I was in training camp in Singapore. It was very successful trip; I learned a lot and enjoyed my time there. I also spent some time on training in Romania and then went to Dusseldorf. I practiced with Austria’s and Germany’s team. Top players were there, “explained Cristian.

In England, both actors of the thrilling European Youth Championships final will be on duty again. PLETEA will play against Ioannis SGOUROPOULOS of Greece, this time seeded no. two.

“I am in top shape now. I worked hard to be ready for England and for Luxembourg. I am in the senior team at the European Championships,” said PLETEA.” The match against SGOUROPOULOS was very dramatic, but it helped me improve my game. It gives me the extra motivation. I am ready for all 9 matches and seven games duels. I think I can win the tournament.”

Already in 2014 and in 2015 in France and Romania, Cristian clinched gold as cadet.

Among other adversaries PLETEA will meet Tom JARVIS the highest-ranked English player in the event ranked at No 7 at the seedings. Cristian PLETEA beat JARVIS in the quarter-finals of the European Youth Championships.

“It’s the most prestigious European tournament there is for my age group. It will be nice to play in England with a home crowd and hopefully that will help me play better. I’ll be trying to follow on from a good European Youths and it would be good to get revenge over PLETEA – but all the players there are good players” said JARVIS.

In the Junior Girls Event Adina DIACONU is the top seed. She also was in Singapore.

“I learned a lot from that training camp. In addition I had a good preparation in Romania and I am ready for England,” said Adina. “ At Top 10 it will be very difficult because we know each other very well and there will be no easy matches. Everybody can beat everybody. I will try to do my best because I feel good and I am well prepared now. The most difficult match for me will be like always the first one because I am slow starter. In addition my first match at the tournament will be against DRAGOMAN.”
