Europe Youth Top 10 in Worcester
There were few surprises as matters commenced at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Worcester. Cadet Girls Event opened the tournament and in very first round no. one seed Elena ZAHARIA of Romania experienced unexpected defeat in the match against Isa COK of France.
“ I was a little bit nervous, but the pressure was not on me. I tried to enjoy the game as much as I can. ZAHARIA’s service game is very good, but after the opening game I managed to find the answer,” said COK no. 5 seed.
In addition Anastasia BONDAREVA of Germany, seeded no. 8, overcame her compatriot, seeded no. four Wenna TU in seven thrilling games.
French girl could not keep in the same pace. In full seven games battle she lost over her compatriot Camille LUTZ in the second round. However she recovered in her last match of the day and beat Lou FRETE of France.
In the first match BONDAREVA prevailed against TU, but the meters concluded as the rankings predicted in the next round. Germany’s Sophia KLEE beat BONDAREVA and TU overcame Lou FRETE.
Jamila LAURENTI recorded three wins out of three matches. At the end of the day she prevailed in close thriller against Anastasia BONDAREVA of Germany. She did it after full seven games, whilst against Charlotte BARDSLEY of England and Ozge YILMAZ of Turkey she needed one less.
“I was very focused and tried to think only about the match against BONDAREVA. We know each other very well, we played so many times and it was always very close,” said LAURENTI.
In the last round of the day Ozge YILMAZ of Turkey also prevailed against ZAHARIA.
