European Youth Top 10 in Worcester

The only unbeaten player in Cadet Girls Singles Event at the European Youth Top 10 in Worcester is Sophia KLEE of Germany. At the end of the second day, she recorded six wins in six rounds. Today she overcame Lou FRETE and Isa COK of France before she succeeded against host nation representative Charlotte BARDSLEY.

“I am so happy. I did not expect 6:0 after two days,” said KLEE, seeded no. 4.” To reach this point I needed to be focus on each ball in each match. Sometimes it is very difficult. Now, after the third duel of the day I feel very tired.”

There is still a long way ahead of her gold medal winner in doubles this summer in Portugal at the European Youth Championships.

“Tomorrow I will play against top three seeds: ZAHARIA, LAURENTI and LUTZ. Elena beat me in the third round of the European Youth Championships and I expect it is going to be very hard match. However, I am happy with my performance. The competition is fierce here and I could be more happier with the result I made so far.”

Anastasia BONDAREVA of Germany seamed to recover well from the very difficult opening day. At the start of day two she beat no. one seed Elena ZAHARIA of Romania.

“I knew I could not lose my focus. I had to be 100 percent in the game from the very beginning. ZAHARIA’s service game is very dangerous. After heavy and close matches day earlier it was important for me to start well,” said BONDAREVA seeded no. eight.

She also overcame Camille LUTZ of France in Round 5

Ozge YILMAZ of Turkey seeded no 7, recorded second win in the fourth round. She needed full seven games to overcome no 3 seed Camille LUTZ. Isa COK of France was two games to null in reverse against Charlotte BARDSLEY of England, but she recovered to win the match. She is currently at the position no. two at the standings. In the sixth round she overcame LAURENTI.

Lou FRETE of France forced no. two seed Jamila LAURENTI into first defeat at the tournament in round five, whilst TU Wenna of Germany beat no. one ZAHARIA.

At position no. two are also LAURENTI and BONDAREVA; all with four wins and two defeats.
