DIACONU showed no sign of weakness

European Youth Top 10 in Worcester

 

Top seeded player in Junior Girls Singles event at the European Youth Top 10 in Worcester, Adina DIACONU of Romania concluded the opening day of the competition undefeated. European silver medalists overcame her compatriots Tania PLAIAN and Andreea DRAGOMAN as well as England’s Denise PAYET.

 

Table no. 3 proved as a very unlucky position for the favorites in the opening round of the all thee Events at the European Youth Top 10 in Worcester. After both cadet’s categories, in junior girls event lower ranked player prevailed on that table. Izabela LUPULESKU of Serbia no. 3 seed, overcame Andreea DRAGOMAN of Romania no 2 seed, in the first match of the day in her category.

 

“It is still a long way to go. This is just the beginning of the tournament, but it gives me good boost of self confidence. Beating no. two in the tournament is a good way to start the day,” said LUPULESKU.

 

In more effective style she overcame Denise PAYET of England in next round, before she lost to ZHANG Xuan of Spain. Lisa LUNG of Belgium beat Spain’s representative and Denise PAYET before she suffered by the hands of Jennie WOLF of Germany.
