Rio 2016 Paralympics: Poland takes gold of Women`s Team Classes 6-10

Fabien LAMIRAULT and Stephane MOLLIENS from France beat Korea 2:1 in the final of Men`s Team Classes 1-2

 

Natalia PARTYKA`s Poland beat defending champion China 2:1 in the gold medal contest of Women’s Team Classes 6-10. China led after opening doubles match, but PARTYKA leveled against YANG Qian in straight games. Finally, Karolina PEK defeated LEI Lina in four sets to secure gold medal for her side. Natalia PARTYKA and Karolina PEK won bronze medal four years ago in London. Brazil now finished third on the podium after 2:0 win against Australia

 

Men`s Classes 1-2

The 2012 London runner-up of Men’s Team Class 1-2, France is newly crowned Paralympic champion. Fabien LAMIRAULT and Stephane MOLLIENS beat in the final Korea 2:1, as MOLLIENS overcame CHA Soo Yong in the decisive third encounter. Four years ago golden team of Classes 1-2, Czech Republic now finished fourth, as they lost to Brazil 2:1.

 

Women’s Team Classes 4-5

China’s ZHOU Ying, ZHANG Bian and GU Gai successfully defended their crown from London 2012 Paralympics, as they beat Serbia 2:0. Both matches were finished in straight games. Serbia’s Borislava PERIC-RANKOVIC and Nada MATIC leave Rio with two medals each, bearing in mind that they took gold and bronze in Women’s Single Event respectively. As four years ago Korea won bronze, beating Sweden 2:1.

 

Men’s Team Classes 9-10

Spain’s Juan PEREZ GONZALEZ, Jose RUIZ REYES and Jorge CARDONA MARQUEZ lost to China 2:1 in the battle for gold, but moved one step up on the podium comparing to London 2012 Paralympics. Four years ago runner-up in London, Poland`s national team now beat France 2:0 to reach bronze medal.
