Cadet Girls Singles Event

Croatia’s Marta VUKELIC is the only host nation representative in Cadet Girls Singles Event at the European Youth Championships in Zagreb. In the Round of 16 she will meet Prithika PAVADE of France.

“I am so happy. I went full distance against Dasa SINKAROVA of Slovakia, but I never lost my faith. In the seventh game I was under enormous pressure, but I stayed focused and use my forehand. In the next Round I will play against left-hand French girl who is very dangerous. I already played against her,” said VUKELIC. “I am very happy with my performance. I am little bit tired, but there is enough energy left for the finish.”

Top seed Anastasi KOLISH of Russia beat Ivona PETRIC of Montenegro, before she succeeded against Sophia KLEE of Germany; Zdena BLASKOVA of Czech Republic overcame Lucia MITROFAN of Romania and Camille LUTZ of France.

In second round, first notable name to leave the field earlier then the rankings predicted was Tania PLAIAN of Romania. She suffered by the hands of Raquel MARTINS of Portugal after seven games thriller.
