Top seed Adina DIACONU of Romania reached the Round of 16 in the Junior Girls Singles Event at the European Youth Championships in Zagreb. For the place in the quarters she will meet Betul KAHRMAN of Turkey.

In the fourth Round Daria TRIGOLOS of Belarus prevailed against Jennie WOLF of Germany and she will meet Eline LOYEN of Belgium. Airi AVAMERI of Estonia created the upset by beating Luis SAGER of Germany. Marie MIGOT is also safely through after victory over Ellen HOLMSTEN of Sweden.

In the second round DIACONU easily prevailed against Serbia’s Edina BANKO, but her compatriot and the second seed Andreea DRAGOMAN lost against Azerbaijan’s NING Jing in five games. French girls Marie MIGOT and Audrey ZARIF both succeeded.

ZARIF overcame TOFANT of Slovenia in straight games:” Despite victory I am not happy with the level of my game. I knew my adversary from before and it helped me a lot today. I already beat her before.”

It was tough round for Romania. Andreea CLAPA also faced early exit. She lost against Nikita PETROVOVA of Czech Republic.

“I had more confidence after our previous meeting, when I beat her. The fifth game, after CLAPA leveled at two all was very close, so the crucial moment was when I recovered to win the fifth game at 11:7. After that I was safe,’ said PETROVOVA.

Carolin HAJOK of Germany beat BALTUSHITE of Belarus after seven games.

“I was down 3:2 but I managed to rise the level of my game and to give best performance in the last two games,” said HAJOK.
