Russian and Polish champion starts with a 3:1 advantage in the returning quarter-final matches (January 22nd)

All four returning matches of the 2015/15 TTCLM quarter-finals will be held this Friday (January 22nd), after three victories of visitors in the first leg: Fakel Gazproma Orenburg – UMMC Verkhnaya Pyshma (13:20, 1st match 3:1), AS Pontoise Cergy – Borussia Dusseldorf (20:00, 1st match 3:2), Chartres ASTT – Eslovs Al Bordtennis (19:00, 1st match 1:3), Olimpia Unia Grudziadz – Saarbrucken (18:00, 1st match 3:1).

Seems like reigning TTCLM winner Orenburg and Polish champion Olimpia Unia have a best positions after the first match, as both secured 3:1 away win. The 2014 TTCLM champion Pontoise managed to beat Borussia in Dusseldorf 3:2, but Timo BOLL & Company will not travel with a white flag to France, no matter how many problems they had in the last several months.

“I am proud of my team and what we did in the first match. It`s a good result with which we must be satisfied. Last season we also won the first leg but lost in the returning match, hence we are aware now that we passed just first half and that is still everything open”, said Pontoise`s Coach Christian ADAM, speaking for Borussia`s website.

Borussia announced after the first clash that Kamal ACHANTA extended his contract by one year to the 2017. Coach Danny HEISTER was satisfied how Indian played against French team, but crucial problem for his side is the fact that Timo BOLL needs more matches to find his best level after four months break forced by knee surgery.

After 3:1 defeat at home UMMC has small chances in the all-Russian quarter-finals, especially knowing that they will not appear in their best line-up even in the returning clash. Japanese Jun MIZUTANI missed first game due to participation on the National Championships of Japan.

In the rest two encounters, Eslovs and Olimpia Unia will fight for their best ever accomplishments in the TTCLM, against Chartres and Saarbrucken respectively. XU Hui (Eslovs) provided two points each against Par GERELL and GAO Ning, while Polish champion showed good team work against the 2012 semi-finalists UMMC.
