The year starts in the Hungarian city of Budapest

ITTF 2016 World Tour Hungarian Open

 

A Major Series tournament in the capital city of Budapest commences tomorrow on Wednesday 20th January and it will last to Sunday 24th. ITTF 2016 World Tour Hungarian Open gathered 368 players at the first big tournament in 2016. Since the deadline for the final rankings that will count for 2016 Rio Olympic games approaches, the list of participants is very interesting.


Top seeded in Men's Singles Event is CHUANG Chih Yuan of Taipe World's no. 9, followed by LI Ping of Qatar and Simon GAUZY of France. On its quest for eight Olympics is Croatia's Zoran PRIMORAC, whilst Aleksandar KARAKASEVIC is looking for the rankings point that might help him traveling to Olympics for the fifth time.


Ai FUKUHARA of Japan topping the Women's list. FUKUHARA clinched three titles in 2015; she emerged victorious in Australia, the Czech Republic and Korea. Best ranked Europeans on duty in Budapest


are Germany’s Petrissa Solja and Shan Xiaona, the respective no.7 and no.8 seeds. Last year, Petrissa SOLJA was the runner up on home soil in Berlin beaten by Mima ITO, for SHAN Xiaona it was second place in Croatia, she experienced defeat at the hands of Korea’s CHOI Hyojoo.


World's no. 32 Georgina POTA lead the Hungarian team. She is no. 25 seed at home.
