Yana NOSKOVA at the top of her Group

Bronze medalist in Team’s Event successfully concluded Group Stage in Singles

Highest ranked player on duty in the qualifications of the Women’s Singles Event at the 2015 LIEBHERR ITTF European Championships, Dora MADARASZ of Hungary booked her place in the main draw after three wins in top Group. Camelia POSTOACA of Romania followed her path alongside Yana NOSKOVA of Russia in Group 4.  It was only the Group 3 where we saw the upset created by Egle STUCKYTE day earlier. To seeded Amelie SOLJA of Austria suffered by the hands of Lithuanian player.

 

On her way to the main draw MADARASZ overcame Aikaterini TOLIOU of GREECE 3:0, Rahel ASCHWANDEN of Switzerland and Chaira COLANTONI of Italy. It was only Swiss played who won the game against Hungarian.

 

“My performance here is still little bit shaky. I am not fully happy with my game. Espacially it was hard for me to play against Rahel ASCHWANDEN. I used to play against her at the trainings, but now I felt she improved her game a lot. Her forehand was very dangerous,” explained MADARASZ.

 

Dora returned to the field after the break.

 

“I played here in the Team’s Event and I was a little bit mentally tired. Physically, I am fine. I did not have many matches in past few months. I played only in Austria open,” added Dora.” After the World Championships I had a problem with the shoulder. I thought I recovered, but during the summer I felt the pain again. I was out for four weeks.”

 

Camelia POSTOACA of Romania overcame Nicole TROSMAN of Izrael, Daria TRIGOLOS of Belarus and Ugne BASKUTYTE of Lithuania.

 

“I was only afraid before the match against TROSMAN. I have never played against her, but the girls from my team warned me about her. They told me she is really good. I guess, I was prepared well. It comes as a surprise for me to beat her in straight games. Match against TRIGOLOS was also new experience for me; I never met her before and she put me under pressure. I won also in three games, but the second one was difficult because she adjusted to my game. I was forced to change the tactics. I stared to play more defensive, cut her balls and forced her into errors,” explained POSTOACA.

 

Yana NOSKOVA prevailed in the matches against Lisa LING of Belgium, Debora VIAVARELLI of Italy and Merve MENGE of Turkey.

 

“To be honest I had to have a word with team psychologist before the start of the singles event. After we won the medal and after I played against adversaries such as HAN Yin or Yu Fu, it was stressful to return to the court in the singles qualifications and to perform at the highest level again. I talked with the doctor; she helped me with few advices. The basic one was that I have to respect all the adversaries.  I followed the advice and I had not lose the game in the singles.”
