New methods of coaching on test in Vilnius
ITTF/PTT Level One Coach Education Course and Seminar
Supported by Olympic Solidarity and organised under the auspices of the ITTF Development Programme, Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania, was the host for a recent ITTF/PTT Level One Coach Education Course and Seminar.
Proceedings commenced on Monday 5th October and concluded on Wednesday 14th October. The expert on duty was Aleksey YEFREMOV of Belarus.
“Overall the Coaches Course lasted five days, a total of 30 hours, 24 hours was dedicated to the ITTF Coaching Manual, six hours to Para Table Tennis,” said Aleksey YEFREMOV. “There were two sessions per day; theory and practical sessions with video demonstration, multi-ball sessions and physical preparation included.”
A total of 17 students from nine cities in the country attended, six were female.
“The last time I was in Vilnius I was as a teenager, playing in tournaments in Vilnius and Kaunas for the Belarus team; that was between 1990 and 1994, now Vilnius looks really very different”, said Aleksey YEFREMOV.
Following the conclusion of the course, the Coaching Seminar commenced on Saturday 10th October; the main objective was to focus on the relevant practical aspects of coaching.
Advanced techniques in modern table tennis, different methods of training, tactical preparation and mental preparation were itemized as were systems of training and physical preparation.
“The good point was that some of sessions were attended players of different levels”, explained Aleksey YEFREMOV. “The coaches had the chance to test new methods of coaching with regards to both technical skills and movement.”
Rimgaudas BALAISA, the President of Lithuanian Table Tennis Association attended almost all the practical sessions of the course; whilst Egle KAZUTE, the International Relations Co-ordinator, was present for most of the theory sessions.
In addition Kristina JUKNYTE the General Secretary of Lithuanian Table Tennis Association attended the Closing Ceremony and presented the awards.
