Russian clubs enter TTCLM quarter-finals

First two TTCLM Round 5 games are ended: Orenburg – Saarbrucken 3:0, UMMC – Niederosterreich 3:2

 

Two Russian clubs booked their places into the 2015/16 TTCLM quarter-finals, as they won the Round 5 matches held on their soil: Fakel Gazproma Orenburg – Saarbrucken 3:0, UMMC – Wienviertel Niederosterreich 3:2.

 

Defending TTCLM champion and top seed Orenburg confirmed its supremacy in the Group A. Dimitrij OVTCHAROV, Vladimir SAMSONOV and Alexey SMIRNOV beat Adrien MATTENET, Tamas LAKATOS and Leonardo MUTI respectively. Young line-up of German club managed to take four sets in total, but not disappointed at all. In the third match MUTI stretched to full distance former Euro-Top 12 winner SMIRNOV.

 

In Group B clash at Verkhnaya Pyshma, Alexander SHIBAEV showed probably his best performances in the TTCLM so far, as he defeated both, HOU Yingchao and Stefan FEGERL.

 

The 2008 TTCLM winner, Niederosterreich had a nice opening against the 2012 runner-up UMMC. Actual world`s no. 22 Stefan FEGERL confirmed that this season is the turning point in his career, beating no. 6 on the planet, Japanese Jun MIZUTANI in straight games. In same way SHIBAEV leveled the score against his former team mate HOU Yingchao.

 

Grigory VLASOV had one set advantage in two occasions, but Daniel HABESOHN beat him after full five sets, as last one ended by two points distance.

 

MIZUTANI again evened the score in the very intense clash against HOU. Finally, SHIBAEV secured victory for UMMC in four sets duel with FEGERL. The most interesting moments emerged on 10:10 in the fourth set, when Russian took two points in the row to conclude the match.
