Top seeds safely progressed to the Round of 16

In Junior Boys Singles in Round of 64 Patryk ZATOWKA, who suffered from injury during the Team’s Event, easily prevailed against Christian FRIEDRICH of Austria 4:0 (3, 5, 3, 3), whilst few hour latter beat Stanislav KUCERA of Czech Republic to reach Round of 16 – 4:2 (-10, -9, 6, 4, 5, 7).

“I feel minor pain, so I can play without the problem. I am happy the way I started in the Singles competition, because my aim here is to win the gold. This is my last year in junior category,” explained ZATOWKA. 

He was injured in the match against Germany in Team’s Event. 

“I played against France, but I was not 100 percent fit. I do not say we will beat them, but we will produce greater challenge. However, we won bronze, and I am happy that we were at the medal rostrum.”

Number 9 in Europe Aliaksandr KHANIN of Belarus excited the competition in the third round. Nikola MARINKOVIC, placed at position no. 45, beat him in six games – 4:2 (-10, -9, 5, 6, 8, 8). However, despite good performance, MARINKOVIC suffered by the hands of Tom SFILIGOJ of Slovenia in the next round 4:3 (-4, -5, 11, 6, 7, -9, 8).

Top seeded Anton KALLBERG of Sweden overcame Ibrahim GUNDUZ of Turkey to reach Round of 16, whilst Alexandre CASSIN overcame Andrey SEMENOV of Russia – 4:1 (-10, 10, -10, 10, 3, 9). Can AKKUZU of France overcame Marek BADOWSKI of Poland.
