Romanian player won gold in Singles
Cristian PLETEA added another jewel to his rich treasury. After gold medal in Mixed Doubles Event, bronze medal in Team’s Event and silver in Doubles , he clinched the gold in Cadet Singles Event. In the final he overcame Jannik XU of Germany 4:0 (7, 5, 7, 9).
“I feel so proud and I have to thank my coach above all. This is great success, but even greater obligation for me to continue to work harder. Next year I will be junior and I want to continue with good results,” said Cristian.
In the semi final top seed PLETEA beat Jules ROLLAND of France 4:1 (7, 5, 4, -10, 2). At the point when it looked that Jules will be able to return in the match, Cristian attacked with the full force.
“I was confident with my game. I played very good from the beginning. He was little bit slow so it allowed me to prepare the better strokes. In fourth game, he changed the tactics, but I read it and in next game I attacked again,” explained PLETEA.
Jannik XU upset the favorite, and prevented Romania of having two players in the final. Rares SIPOS suffered defeat in semis 4:2 (8, 7, -5, 4, -5, 6).
“It is surprise for me to be in the final. We played against each other year ago and I lost 2:3. This time my service game and my return were on the highest level,” said Jannik.
