TTCLM Round 6: Borussia against sold out hall in Ostrov

This Friday all eight matches of the concluding round will be held, as ten times European champion fights with Czech club for the place in the quarter-finals. Timo BOLL traveled with his team just in case

 

The peak of the 2015/16 TTCLM group stage will emerge tomorrow, as all eight Round 6 matches will be held – GROUP A: Saarbrucken – SPG Walter Wels (19:00), Vaillante Sports Angers – Fakel Gazproma Orenburg (19:30), GROUP B: UMMC Verkhnaya Pyshma – Olimpia Unia Grudziadz (15:00), Wienviertel Niederosterreich – GV Hennebont (17:15), GROUP C: KTS Energa Manekin Torun – Werder Bremen (18:00), Eslovs Al Bordtennis – AS Pontoise Cergy (19:00), GROUP D: Chartres ASTT – Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki (19:00), STEN Havlickuv Brod Ostrov – Borussia Dusseldorf (19:30).

 

Ten times European champion Borussia will be faced with a big challenge in Czech Republic. STEN Ostrov hopes that it has power to reach the next stage, as manager Jan HRNCIRIK explains:

 

„We are all fully focused on Friday evening. We try to finish by miracle beating Borussia 3:0 or 3:1 which would ensure us 2nd place in the group. We hope for support of our 700 fans, the hall is already sold out for one month. “

 

After five rounds Borussia (3-2) has one victory more than Ostrov (2-3). Czech side fights to surpass 3:1 (9:6) victory of German team at the first leg. The 2013 TTCLM runner-up Chartres secured top spot in this group, while Bogoria stays on fourth place no matter how the last round will be ended.

 

Good news for Borussia`s fans is Timo BOLL return, but Coach Danny HEISTER stressed that his super star travels to Ostrov just in case. „We will spontaneously decide on the spot whether he will play or not”, stated Dutchman for Borussia website. There is a possibility to see the best Dusseldorf`s line-up for the very first time since September when six times individual European champion underwent knee surgery. It means that Patrick FRANZISKA is ready to play.

 

„The team has enough class to win this game – with or without Timo BOLL”, emphasizes Borussia`s Manager Andreas PREUSS.

 

Set-ratio could determine the final standings in the Group A, as three teams were tied at 2-3 from 2nd do 4th places: Saarbrucken, Walter Wels and Angers. Reigning TTCLM champion Orenburg already insured its place for the quarter-finals.

 

From the Group B two opponents in the upcoming round UMMC and Olimpia Unia secured their places among the best eight European clubs. From C Eslovs booked a ticket for the next stage, while both Pontoise and Werder Bremen have chances to join them. The match in the focus is one between Eslovs and Pontoise. French side needs victory; otherwise Werder will progress to the best eight with a victory against Energa Manekin.
