Japan set to clean the table in Finland

Finlandia Open team event reached the semifinals on the opening day of Thursday. In both men's and women's team finals on Friday evening Japan 1 will meet Japan 2.

In men´s team Japan 1 with Kenta TAZOE and Keiya UEMURA lost only one match in their five matches of the day. The result is not in itself a surprise, even if the Japanese do not have recent international results and world ranking positions. Thus, they were not seeded in Finlandia Open, though are definitely among the greatest favorites also in the singles. In team final TAZOE and UEMURA will meet Yukinori MIYAMOTO and Tomoya FUJIMURA.

In women's final Minami ANDO and Suzuki RIKA will meet Rei YAMAMOTO and Hikari MASAMOTO. Ando and Suzuki in Japan 1 won all their matches on their way to the final clearly 3-0.

Singles that started on Friday morning are played with progressive knock-out system (PKO), which finally gives an exact position for each player. The home crowd´s big favorite is Benedek OLAH, who has raised his world ranking position in December up to 146. OLAH fights – as a first Finnish player for a long time - firmly from the matches on Rio Olympic tables.
