PROKOPCOV and MATELOVA shined in Teplice

Hana MATELOVA won two gold and silver medal at the Czech National Championships held this weekend in Teplice.

In the final of the Women’s Singles Event MATELOVA overcame Renata STRBIKOVA. It is the first medal for HANA. Previously Hana beat Iveta VACENOVSKA currently ranked at the position no. 25 at the World Rankings, whilst STRBIKOVA succeeded against Lenka HARABASZOVA.“It is great. I have never won a championship medal. I am very glad. It was a difficult tournament for me,” said Hana MATELOVÁ after the final.

In the Men’s Singles Event Dmitrij PROKOPCOV overcame experienced Petr KORBEL on his way to the highest step of the medal rostrum. Tomas KONECNY and Jiri VRABLIC lost theitr semi final matches.

In the Women’s Doubles Event HARABASZOVA and Martina SMISTIKOVA overcame Katerina PENKAKOVA and MATELOVA. In semis, PENKAKOVA and MATELOVA beat Dagmar BLASKOVA and Simona SLEHOBROVA, whilst HARABASZOVA and SMISTIKOVA beat Hana BARTOSOVA and Karin ADAMKOVA.

In Men’s Doubles Event Tomas KONECNI and Tomas TREGLER clinched the title after they overcame Frantisek PLACEK and David STEPANEK in the final. In semis new champions succeeded against Richard VYBORNY and Bohumi VOZICKY. In other semi final PLACEK and STEPANEK beat Michal OBESLO and Petr KAUCKY.

In Mixed Doubles Event Michal OBESLO and MATELOVA overcame Tomas KONECNY and Dana CECHOVA. Petr KORBEL and Martina SMISTIKOVA and Tomas TREGLER and Katerina PENKAKOVA clinched bronze.
